... the Smiley-Face Locket

Today's task was to ask a family member to identify their most treasured possession and then write the story behind its meaning. I chose to ask my mom to name the most meaningful item she has and it is as follows:

When I was around 4 or 5, my dad asked me what I wanted to get my mother for Christmas and I responded promptly with "a smiley-face necklace." After some examination and elaboration upon what we wanted a smiley-face necklace to look like, my dad came up with the idea of finding and printing out a picture of me smiling and putting it in a locket on a chain for her. She wears it all the time, especially on days where she misses me or is thinking about me. She wanted me to clarify that it is the thought and love behind the locket itself that she finds meaningful in the aptly named smiley-face necklace.
