Today's prompt was to photograph a group of objects―each representing a different member of my family―and then describe not only why they were chosen, but how they reflect the family dynamic.

The Guitar― The guitar represents my dad. He chose it because of how much it means to him and all the time he has invested in playing it. As far as the family dynamic goes, I think this is a good representation of him. He has an overwhelming number of hobbies and things he loves to do, and considering how much larger the guitar is than the other 2 objects, I think it is well represented. However, despite his numerous pass times, he always shares his newest creation (a photograph, a new box of tied flies, a new song, etc.) with my mom and I; and we admire and adore the fact that he shares that which he loves with those he loves before the rest of the world.

The Cup― The Starbucks cup represents my mother. She chose this item mostly because of her love for her venti skinny vanilla latte, however I see a little bit more. I have always found coffee to be strong (no matter what you put in it) and my mom is the strongest person I know. While she is a little less grand than my dad, they are equally admirable and loving.

The Map― The map represents me. I chose this item both because I am still finding my way in life and I love guiding people to find theirs. Now keep in mind, I am using a 21st century approach to paper maps for the sake of my analogy. Paper maps are unassuming but largely complex and overwhelming when one chooses to open it to find their way. I am a very overbearing person who spends a lot time confused, but I also enjoy helping others find their way to where they are headed. I will do anything I can do to help those around me find where they're going, even if it delays the path to my own unique destination.
